PostSubject: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptyFri Sep 30, 2016 9:49 pm

Lynxstride had woken up early, the sun was just beginning to peek out over the horizon as he strode across the meadow. The massive cat seemed rather aloof, after all there was no one around to impress at the moment. Dew rested on the tall grasses and a slight chill invaded the air. Leaf fall was beginning, it was the tom's favorite season, he was finally free of the hot sun. However leafbare crouched just around the corner. It being this chilly so early into leaf fall was definitely not a good sign for the upcoming season. Lynxstride stopped and shivered at the thought, but then continued walking. Water still covered the ground from the previous night's rain, and the only scents that caught the tom's attention were stale. So he decided to head towards the river to see if he would have better luck there. By the time he had reached the river, the tom's thick, short, golden fur stuck to his sides. He hadn't done a good job at avoiding puddles on his way over, and the dew from every single blade of grass in the meadow seemed to have found its way onto his pelt. So, frustrated and soaked, instead of hunting Lynxstride found a nice sunny rock to lay on and dry out.

The bitter morning was not worth it, not worth getting out of his warm and cozy nest. To do what? Why did Ignitingshade get out of bed? For what exactly did he plan to do? What caused him to get out of his nest earlier than usual? Ah, that's it! Another nightmare disturbed his slumber, nothing new. Yet, Ignitingshade couldn't get over this reaccuring nightmare that left fear in his mind and a bitter taste in his mouth. Would he ever? How could he when the dream was a memory. A memory always there and a forever reminder of his failures. He let someone he loved down and now is paying the price of his actions. Sighing Ignitingshade stopped and looked around. His amber colored eyes looking for something to do, something to take his mind off things. Seeing nothing the black tom perked his ears forward to listen, occasionally twitching them to hear better. When that didn't work he resorted to his excellent sense of smell. Parting his jaws he took in a deep breath and let the scent glands on the roof of his mouth get to work. The morning dew covered everything, however he did catch a fairly new scent and one Ignitingshade knew well. At the sense's of smell Ignitingshade's mood lightened, but only slightly. Picking up his pace the large oily black tom followed the scent trail. Hoping his nose didn't trick him and his assumptions were crushed, after all he wasn't the best of hunters. That just wasn't his forté. No, his forté was in fighting and battle tactics. The thrill of power you got when your opponent realized that you were stronger than them, that you were more skilled than they. That you could end there life here and now with a swift, but lethal bite to the throat. Watching their life's essence dribble out of their torn out jugular, their chest slowly stop rising, and their quite and feeble gurgles as they tried to desperately gasp for air. Only they can't because they have no throat to breath through, they are broken and hopeless and yet they still try. They still try to fight even though they know it's pointless and hopeless. Why? Why do they do it? What do they feel so strongly to live? To survive? Ignitingshade didn't understand. We are all born, only just to die in the end. What do we accomplish in that time frame? In a way the young warrior understood, and then he didn't.

Shaking his head from the morbid thoughts Ignitingshade looked up from his slouched walking position when he reached the Little River. A tawny colored pelt caught the felines golden eyes. Crouching low, Ignitingshade readied himself to pounce. He needed to act swiftly for he was upwind of the unsuspecting cat. Bunching his muscles Ignitingshade pounced and attempted to pin his brother.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar walked smoothly along the territory as the wind brushed her coat. Her amber eyes searched the territory for any signs of cats, but didn't see any. However, she did smell one particular scent. The scent wasn't very welcoming to her--it reminded her of the recent death of her friend, ShadowWhisper. The pretty warrior had three kits with a mate who passed many moons ago. She often got into fights with the previous HawkClan deputy, Ashpelt. AmberStar was a pretty young when she became leader. She did regret a few of her decisions the more she thought about them. Now that she was a bit older, she grew a bit wiser. However, her feisty attitude was nowhere near gone. The leader pushed the thoughts of her dear friend who passed from greencough and kept moving forward. Thinking of deaths wasn't the best cure to relaxation at all.

The leader reached the river and crouched low to lap some of the water up. It was cool and refreshing--a great remedy to complement Leaf-fall. Water splashed in her face as one fish kicked water with its tail. She shook her fur and padded away from the river until she smelled another scent. AmberStar forgot about the scent she smelled earlier. The scent she was smelling currently was with the scent she smelled previously. She followed the scents. Peaking behind the tall grass, she spotted two cats that were related to ShadowWhisper--her offspring and her step-son. "Is the Leaf-fall having an effect on you two?" She said with a half smirk.

Lynxstride lay on his rock, basking in the warm sun as he thought about life. Life was nice.. the sun was nice. He had a clan to support him and a family to love him. Nothing got much better than how it was right then, This is a nice rock.. he thought to himself as he rolled so that he could warm his other side as well. About halfway through his roll something hit him. Something hard, fluffy, and black. He panicked for a moment, trying to compose himself while also trying to shove off the strange cat. He started to try and get his legs under the cat, but by this point he had a pretty decent idea of who it was. The only black fluffy thing that would ever try and pounce on him, Ignitingshade. "Get off of me Mousebrain!" he laughed at his gloomy yet lovable older brother as he discontinued his struggle. He never would have noticed Amberstar if she hadn't spoke.

Laying About [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptyFri Sep 30, 2016 11:49 pm

A deep rumble of a laugh left the black cats maw as his brother tried to get his long legs under his own. Only it was a frutile act as Ignitingshade had a gentle, but firm hold on his brothers scruff. A deep purr rumbled from his narrow chest cavity, a purr mixed with laughter. It was a nice relief to laugh again, to feel something besides anger and resentment. Letting go of his brothers scruff Ignitingshade jumped out of his brothers reach. Knowing him he would try and get him back. His amber eyes glowed with joy, happy to tussle with someone. "Mousebrain? That's the best you can do 'lil bro?" Ignitingshade gave his younger brother a grin and sarcastic wink to match. The black cat looked at his brothers tawny coat and saw grass and twigs clung to him. Rolling his eyes the tom got up and walked towards his brother before sitting down next to him and started grooming his fur. At times Ignitingshade felt like a queen grooming her kits only in male form. ShadowWhisper was gone and him being the oldest out of the siblings he took it upon himself to look our for everyone. He would do anything to make sure his family was safe, even at the cost of his own life. Great he was back to his brooding self as always. Was it really so hard for him to be happy and enjoy life? Finishing his cleaning Ignitingshade got up to his hunches, curling his tail around his paws. He gave his brother a pathetic attempt at a grin before his attention was grasped by the clan leader approaching them. "Most definitely. I can't stand the cold that comes with it," the black feline grumbled as his tail twitched in annoyance at the weather.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar stared at the black tom. "Oh really? Well, I prefer the cool air than the heat. It doesn't mix with my fur," she said simply before examining Lynxstride. He looks nothing like his kin, she thought to herself. His mother was fluffy with a tabby and white pelt while his father was black and white. The leader looked back at Ignitingshade to avoid staring at his half brother for too long. She'd been told by others that her gaze often made others feel uneasy. During a conversation like that, she wanted to be as cordial as possible. Making a clanmate uncomfortable wasn't her goal, fortunately. The only time she would purposely embarrass another cat (especially one from her clan) was when she felt disrespected. "Leaf-fall is my favorite season. What is yours?" She started again.

Unbeknownst to them, a slim, lithe, tall shape stalked them silently from the shadows, downwind of them.
Abruptly, a blur of black and white exploded from a patch of heather and tumbled Ignitingflame over,
"Revenge for Lynxstride!" The black and white blur cried, laughing, Patchstrike once again living up to his name as he twisted to attempt to pin his older brother against the ground

Sorry this is on mobile so no template, and apologies for errors in advance.

Stagwhisker slowly inhaled; picking up the fresh scent of the forest under his nose. The ton had been born and raised here. He knew this territory like the color of his fur. The tabby's mind gently wandered to the faded memores of his parents. His father in particular, for he never knew his mother. The Tom had asked his father over and over - what was she like? But his father was not overly one for diving into the past. Perhaps a trait Stagwhisker steadily picked up? Perhaps not to his father's extent however.

Stagwhisker's ears twitched ever so slightly. He could hear the sound of meows and shouts coming from nearby. Drawing towards the sounds, he settled his leafy green eyes on the pelts of Patchstrike, Lynxstrike, Ignitingflame and the leader herself; Amberstar. Respectably, the tabby bowed his head to the leader. "Amberstar," he said. The Toms eyes drifted across to the others, a slight smirk coming to his expression as he watched the full grown warriors tussle like kits. They truly were acting like kits in his mind. But never the less, he acknowledged them with a kind nod. "I do hope I'm not interrupting anything?" He said as he shifted closer towards the group.

Lynxstride smiled and stood up quickly as bis brother let go, embarrassed to have been caught so off guard. "I know, I know.. foxdung suits you better." he grumbled as his brother cleaned his pelt, but he knew better than to protest, after all now that he looked at himself it was a mess. After his grooming Lynxstride had to restrain himself from tackling his brother, he didn't want to look foolish in front of their leader. He did however make a mental note to get him back later as he smiled back at him. Shifting so that he was facing Amberstar, Lynxstride sat down. "Oh, my favorite season is by fa-" he was cut short by Patchstrike barreling into Ignitingflame. He laughed so hard that he fell over and had to lay there for a moment to catch his breath. He looked over to the new comer from his position on the ground, he'd never actually spoken to this cat, but he'd seen him around. "No.. no you're good."

Laying About [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 2:04 am

Ignitingshade stared at his leader as she spoke, not fully listening to her as he really didn't care what her favorite weather was, but not wanting to seem rude the large black feline nodded here and there just to show that he was paying attention. What he did know was that Amberstar was talking about the warm weather and how it affected her fur. To be truthfully honest Ignitingshade didn't mind leaf-fall, it was when prey was scarce and leaf-bare was here, that's when the black feline hated the cold. He loved it when he could have a full belly and warm sunny rock to lay on. When he could fight and tussle with his siblings and pant from the heat the sun provided. When the prey was plump and bountiful. But he couldn't say that the challenges leaf-bare provided was bad to Ignitingshade, it pushed him harder if anything. Something Ignitingshade wanted to strive to be. He strived to be a great warrior like his father, a reliable clan mate and protector of his family. The question was, is he able to do it? It would be a long and difficult road, but it just might be worth it in the end.

Hearing his leaders question Ignitingshade focused his attention back to the present,  "I prefer green-leaf rather than the co–." Ignitingshade was cut off from speaking when a black and white furry blur crashed into him. The shock of being caught off guard and the force of the cats momentum pushed the oily black cat over, allowing him to be momentarily pinned, for how long, only a few seconds before Ignitingshade's instinct kicked in. He attempted to use his brute strength and weight in over throwing his attacker, if not just a little bit, enough for him to release his hind leg and his front left paw. So his back was facing his attackers chest and belly while he slightly leaned on his right side. Not hesitating Ignitingshade attempted to hook his back left leg around his opponents left hind leg while he twisted his front half of his body toward the cat pinning him. He wasn't on his whole back with just his chest laying towards the ground. This position protected his belly from the cat above him. His attempted hooked leg would pull his opponent off balance while his front paw pushed against his opponents chest. This move - if successful - would effectively over throw his opponent off him before he got up as quickly as possible and pin his attacker. Once Ignitingshade attempted to pin the feline a low growl left his throat. Ignitingshade was effectively humiliated by his lack of awareness to his surroundings. It wasn't until Ignitingshade saw who it was  before he got up. It was Patchstrike who caught him off guard, not an intruder. Grumbling to himself Ignitingshade gave his younger half-brother a friendly glare, before smirking at him. Oh, he will get him back for this, one way or another.

Hearing Lynxstrike's laughter caused Ignitingshade to glare at him while twitching his ears in annoyance. The sound of a voice and scent told Ignitingshade that another cat joined their group. So much for being and spending alone time with his brother. The ink colored feline nodded his head towards Stagwhisker, though he didn't know him personally he has seen him around camp doing the daily essentials of being a warrior. When the tabby asked if he was interrupting something Ignitingshade opened his mouth to say yes, but thought better of it. Amberstar and his siblings would more than likely scold him for his rudeness. Nothing new there.

PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 4:47 am

Stagwhisker watched the cats through his greenish yellow oculars. Lynxstride. Ignitingshade and Patchstrike. The male was aware of their connection as brothers, but he wasn't exactly sure if someone was half, adopted, or some other mix. Lynxstride however looked the most different out of the mixture. The tom felt a glow of warmth on his back - turning his head, he noticed that plump, feathery white clouds had shifted, allowing the golden sunshine to peak through. The cats in front of him were discussing seasons, or at least it appeared that way in between the kit-like tussling and play-fighting. Stagwhisker was surprised to see fully grown toms actually play-fighting and pouncing on one another. Stagwhisker himself had never really been an overly playful cat; friendly, civil, but never overly playful. When he reached around 8 moons, the young male became fixated on one thing and that was becoming a warrior. The apprentice trained hard, wishing to ensure everyone, especially his deceased parents, were smiling down with pride glinting their eyes. Now that he had finally reached that goal, he wanted to be a little more sociable. Stagwhisker now had plans to gather friends, train a few more apprentices, maybe even settle with a mate. But, they were distant goals.

The tom decided better than to interrupt half way into the conversation by chipping in his favorite season. Stagwhisker was unsure as to his favorite season, really. The tom loved all. He saw that they all had advantages, disadvantages, and various enjoyable aspects about them. Leaf-bare was peaceful, the snow was beautiful as it fell from the grayed skies. However, the cold was simply too much for the short furred warrior. Green-leaf was nice, there was always an abundance of prey. However, the heat grew tiresome and draining, especially when one had many warrior duties to fulfill. That kind of left Leaf-fall and Newleaf. So, it likely came down to one of those.

Stagwhisker turned his head slightly to Ignitingshade, watching as the tom gently opened his mouth then shut it again. Stagwhisker got the impression the male was about to retort with something not too pleasant. The brothers tussling, and the lack of conversation did make Stagwhisker feel a little out of place. But, Lynxstride's comment deflected any possible negative thoughts the tom was having. Stagwhisker smiled happily to the two males, who seemed to have acknowledged his arrival.

Laying About [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 11:45 am

Patchstrike rumbled a loud purr, as every attack landed with accuracy, his breath getting knocked from him as his big yellow eyes stared up at Ignightingflame with laughter and a sense of dependence, even.

Patchstrike was a tall warrior, his very long tail and his black-and-white patched fur giving him an appearance that was an almost 'striking' resemblance to his and their father, Lurkingflame. Lurkingflame had been an extremely well respected warrior in Hawkclan, until the dark times of Lionclaw, where their father had been killed by the mysterious predator. This was before Patchstrike, and his brother Lynxstride, had even been born. Ignitingflame was a tom that belonged to their father's first litter, so although the three toms had the same father, Ignightingflame had a different mother.
'Mother....' Patchstrike thought for a moment, his ear slightly twitching with a painful memory. Their mother, Shadow-whisper, had passed away when they were just young kits. Patchstrike always felt an intense connection with the irritable Ignightingshade since then, a sense of kit-like dependence he was yet to grow out of. The two both lost their parents, and Ignightingshade was the only one who would tell him and his brother what their father was like.
Patchstrike soon wiggled and got to his paws, butting his brother's shoulder with his broad head in a sign of affection that really was a sign of, 'I'll get you later'.
It was quite odd, really. Patchstrike was such a warm and friendly tom, while Ignightingshade obviously was neither of those things naturally, yet Patchstrike still stuck to the tom like a burr in a thick coat.
Catching some of the conversation, he chirped up,
"The winter is so harsh on my short fur, I prefer Newleaf" he commented, before giving a quirky wave of his long tail to Stagwhisker.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar was getting very irritated with the three brothers. Did their parents or mentors teach them proper manners? Did they know what they were in front of their leader? She pressed her lips tight and waited for them to stop playing before she spoke out. "When someone, especially me, is speaking to you, give me your up most attention! I will not tolerate any of you playing like kits when I'm holding a conversation. Show some respect! Am I understood? And for StarClan's sake, you are new warriors! Do not let me regret my decision again." The leader's voice was crisp. She was obviously not pleased. Looking over to Stagwhisker, she gave him a nod. He probably felt out of place too.

The leader was proud and bold. When she gives her attention to someone, she better get the same attention back. She was the highest ranked cat in her clan. Only not giving her the attention she wanted made her feel less. That should never happen in her own clan. Other leaders may tolerate it, but not she. Her irritated mood was beginning to fade, but if someone disrespected her or anyone again then she would not be happy for a while. Looking to every cat with her fierce amber eyes, she stood up. "Well, it was sort of pleasant to speaking to all of you. I have some duties to complete." AmberStar gave everyone a nod before she stalked away.

PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 4:14 pm

Lynxstride scrambled to his feet as Amberstar began scolding them, his head low and ears pinned against his head as a wave of shame washed over him. Any other cat that would have spoken to him like that would probably have gotten a smack upside the head, she had been the one that came up to them, after all, but of course this was the leader of their clan. She had been around much longer than Lynxstride himself and was the only cat he bothered to respect. On most occasions anyway. "Understood." he murmured, looking at the ground. He gave a small nod back in her direction and watched as she walked away. The feeling of shame quickly dissipated as soon as Amberstar was out of earshot and he giggled and snorted in a kit-like manner as previous events came back to him. "Look at that Ig, you got us in trouble!" He laughed, looking to his older brother and blaming him for what had most definitely been a collective effort.

The chocolate male's ears suddenly erected upwards, pointing towards Amberstar as her voice suddenly cut through the kit-like playing. She spoke in such a sharp tone, but it was one he admired. The three brothers were being disrespectful in his mind; paying no real mind to the leader of the clan. The brothers were too busy tackling and acting like immature kits. So, he was relieved that she said something.

The tom watched as the beautiful leader with brightl sunshine colored oculars began to turn away. He could tell why she was named 'amber' - she was practically all amber. The tabby flicked his ears, his faded yellowy green eyes fixated on the brothers for some time. One seemed to scramble to their paws, and immediately feel remorse for having been so rude to the fluffy feline.

Stagwhisker steadily turned. Now that Amberstar was gone, he wasn't sure he felt a real need to remain; especially as the tom's were just playing with one another. If he stayed, then he'd be ignored even more so now than when Amberstar was present and that, that itself did not seem very enjoyable.

The male decided to venture away - just away from the toms. Stagwhisker padded about 10 tail-lengths away, his jaws parted as he began his search for prey. He probably wouldn't stay long. He'd probably venture away to the borders if he could not detect any nearby scents. The brothers had likely scared all the prey with their playing.

Ignoring his brother's taunt Ignitingshade glared hotly at Amberstar's retreating back, not liking her attitude. He didn't ask her to join them, he was perfectly fine without her, he didn't need her. Watching his brother's get scolded crossed the line, and Ignitingshade didn't give a fox-dung what happened afterwards. "Especially you? Excuse me for not giving my 'up most' attention to you. What a shame, truly. I mean why wouldn't anyone not want to give all their attention to Amberstar?" Ignitingshade snapped back, clear sarcasm dripping from his words. He was not happy, and being a hot head he didn't hold back. His brothers should know with them being on the receiving end of his words and sharp tongue. Oh, Ignitingshade was down to getting it on! "We didn't ask you to join us darling so how about you scurry off and leave us alone, hm? I mean you did just barge into our conversation without asking, but oh wait! Your the leader so we just have to listen to you." The black feline snarled. His fur was ruffled from anger and his play fighting with his brothers, tail lashing behind him while his ears were pinned back from irritation. Ignitingshade hardly noticed Stagwhisker leave since he hardly payed attention to the tom. Standing up to his full height Ignitingshade was intimidating, but cats hardly noticed since he was always slouched. He doubted this would intimidate Amberstar since she wasn't leader for nothing. A snarl built up in anger, Ignitingshades' orange eyes burned with a furious fire. He watched to claw Amberstar, but he held enough respect not too.

Patchstrike did not shrink down as his brother Lynxstride had done, although, he didn't lift a claw to retort at the leader. He had a lot buzzing through his mind, but he never acted upon them because of his soft nature. His long tail flicking side to side, he murmured, "We've done our duties today, what's the point of serving a clan if we cannot be happy..?" He murmured softly, before he dropped his muzzle downwards, the loving tomcat obviously crestfallen and sensitive. He blinked when his brother was quick to retort hotly. Three brothers, three obviously different personalities.
He wanted to stand in front of his brother to calm the black hued figure, but knew from experience that that did nothing to stop him except earning a sharp comment, so he stepped back.
To be honest, he agreed, but did not voice that at the inappropriate time which was current.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar stayed back and hid under the grass to see who was going to be rude and disrespect her. Her ears pricked when annoyance when she heard Lynxstride, but she boiled when she heard Ignitingshade's response. It was clear that he had no respect for her. Whoever trained him was high incapable of training such disgrace. The leader walked over to the black tom and faced him. Her nose was almost touching his. He needed to be put in his place. "I do not need anyone's approval to join kit tag. And for the record, all of you have to respect and obey me. I'm the leader and I ultimately get the last word. Not you or any of your playful brothers. So how about you open your tiny skull and start to remember the little things that your guardian has taught you, hm?" Her amber eyes were lit and her voice was crisp yet again. She used the same amount of sarcasm in her voice as he did. "You are a disgrace to your mentor and ultimately your father. You are quite lucky that you weren't my apprentice because if you were, I'll ensure that you would never be a warrior with that attitude!" Her voice was a lot harsher and louder than before. The leader didn't even bother to force her fur flat. "You are not worthy of your title of warrior. After this day, you will be confined in the camp until I say so! The amount of prey you eat will decrease as you will not be hunting. You will have limited food and twice the work. You will clean every den there is every sunrise and they won't be considered clean until I say it's clean! Do you understand me? If you ever break any of the rules, you will not like my severe punishments. You better cherish this moment you have now." AmberStar's gaze went to the rest of the toms standing. "You will be next if you don't clean up your behavior. Try me," she growled.

Stagwhisker had just detected the scent of a nearby mouse, causing the male to lower his lean, muscled body into a low but famous, hunters crouch. The tom began to follow the delicious, mouth watering scent, when suddenly the meows of disrespect flooded through his ears. The tom suddenly sat upright, abandoning his hunt all together.

The tabby watched the brothers through his curious painted eyes. A whirl of ginger suddenly seemed to come from the grass. There was no guessing who. A low growl formed in the back of the tom's throat, instinctively as he watched two brothers retort rudely. Both of them in Stagwhisker's eyes were being rather disrespectful. There was no crime against being happy, but to mistreat or disrespect your leader? The head of your clan? The one who's word is law? No, that did not sit right in the tom's mind what so ever. Stagwhisker was fierce to the warrior code; sticking to it like mousebile to pelt, and both of these two toms, right now, had broken it as far as he was concerned. The leader's word is law. What Amberstar says is what goes. To disrespect that is to effectively break it.

Stagwhisker however watched as Patchstrike commented. He was more sensitive than hostile. But, it was still uncalled for. Ignitingshade however, he was just asking to be punished. He was toying with the leader and it frustrated the white and brown tabby. The tom wanted to call the two cats out on the warrior code, but there did not seem to be a word in edge-wise. Amberstar was fiery, her tongue sharped to that of claws. But, she was justified. The tom's deserved the snake's venom.

Patchstrike lifted his head at the mention of his father, the immediate sorrow that shot through his gaze being extremely apparent as he instantly flinched. He crouched down, ears flat in a show of pained submission. He didn't feel he did anything wrong, which made manners worse. After the gesture, he almost immediately turned and lunged towards the camp, ignoring the sharp heather bushes as he barred his way through it in an almost panicked manner of escape. Leaping out of the patch of heather beside the river, he ran blindly. Patchstrike wasn't good with confrontation, already being a sensitive tom to begin with, he could deal with most situations. But his parents were a very, very touchy subject.

Lynxstride stared in awe at his brother as he actually spoke back to Amberstar. He had spoken his mind, and what the large tom had held himself back from, but this was just plain mousebrained. Listening to his leader spit venom at his brother, most of it seemed well deserved. She was the leader, and couldn't have people challenging her authority like that, but going as far as to call him a disgrace. That crossed a line. His hackles raised instinctively as anger washed over him, and he stood there and glared, but didn't say a word. He watched as Patchstrike ran. After glancing at Ignitingshade in a small plead for him not to do anything stupid, he ran after Patchstrike to make sure he'd be okay.

Laying About [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 7:32 pm

Is it possible to be so mad that you completely shut down? If it wasn't, it's a thing now. Being called a disgrace was one thing, but mentioning that he was a disgrace to his father was another matter entirely. Talking about Ignitingshades' parent's was beyond the line. Then again Amberstar had to have known this or she wouldn't have said anything. She had to have known that it would get under his skin and knowing he couldn't do anything about it made it much worse. If any other cat would have said this he would have shredded their own eyes out, maybe even their tongue if he managed to break the jaw bone. If smoke could come out of his ears and nose, then the place would be so thick that it looked like a fire had wiped through the moors. Amberstar was probably lucky that she was clan leader and not just some regular cat. At Amberstar's retort Ignitingshade's vocals cut short of the growl building in his voice box. What could he do? Nothing. He might have deserved it, but would you stand for someone yelling at you when they interrupted your time alone with your kin and then they have the nerve to yell at you? No, Ignitingshade was not standing for that.

It only made Ignitingshade more furious when Patchstrike left, running away from his leaders harsh words. He also caught Lynxstride's plea's for Ignitingshade to not do anything stupid. No need to worry little bro... Ignitingshade thought to himself as he watched him run after their brother. He turned his stone cold eyes back towards his leader, taking his punishment in stride, "satisfied? Get it all out now? I hope your happy now, darling." He said just to spite her before turning around and stalking away from the orange leader.

Ignitingshade wasn't one to show his emotion, but if you watched closely enough you just might catch the sparkle of a tear. He knew he was a disgrace to his mentor, Flamingglare, a proud and kind warrior who died to the mysterious cat who attacked the clans and a disgrace and shame to his father and mother's name. Where did he go wrong? Did he deserve those harsh and vile words? Perhaps, but it still didn't lessen the pain. Stopping short Ignitingpaw looked over his shoulder at Amberstar, "my kin had nothing to do with this conversation. They know that they couldn't say anything because your the leader. Be proud that you actually have good and respectful warriors. Sorry to disappoint you Amberstar and sorry for stating my opinion," Something was wrong as Ignitingshade never apologized unless it was his siblings and that was rare. The midnight tom knew the warrior code and he knew his leader's word was law, but he was a cat with a voice and he spoke his words no matter the consequences as he was ready to deal with them. Turning back around Ignitingshade stalked the opposite way of the clan's camp, needing to be alone and away from the clans in general.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar watched the Lynxstride's hackles go up. She gave him a sharp look until he ran to console his sensitive brother. Of course he would run away... Her fiery gaze went back to Ignitingshade. "Yes, I'm very satisfied," she replied in a sarcastic, crisp tone before she watched him leave. The leader watched him look at her again. "If only you could be the same," she retorted. She was shocked to hear his apology. AmberStar knew that he wasn't the one to do that. When he left, she totally forgot that Stagwhisker was nearby. She sat in front of the river and looked at her reflection.

The leader's intentions weren't to cause tension within the clan. All she wanted to do was to start a conversation with the toms. She meant no harm what so ever. It wasn't like she stomped over to them and started to shout out orders. AmberStar started the conversation to bond and get to know them, but no... she felt left out. They were barely engaging with her. She found that disrespectful. Leaders deserve respect, not earn it. Their title determined their impact in the clan.

For a moment, AmberStar wondered if it was her destiny to cause tension. With her previous deputy, she didn't quite like him as much. Because she herself lacked some decent amount of wisdom, the clan was divided and she was the fault line. As an apprentice, she was always left out whenever she joined a conversation with someone else. Oh, she hated being ignored by anyone. Her parents weren't really present in her life. As she got older, she felt like she had to be aggressive in order for her to be heard. Especially with toms, those dominant creatures... They always expect to rule everything and everyone to lag behind like a fallen leaf. The males who were her age at the time hated her because she was no close to being submissive. Perhaps that's what the previous liked about her?

PostSubject: Re: Laying About [Open]   Laying About [Open] EmptySun Oct 02, 2016 8:23 pm

The hunting spot quickly emptied - the tom watching as one male ran off, and another followed suit. Patchstrike, the sensitive one, had been the first to leave. The young tom was obviously wounded by the leader's words, although she spoke predominantly to the hot-headed black male more so than the other two. There was no need for the tuxedo to take offence to such words in Stagwhisker's mind. But, he had, and that's all there was to it.

The tabby believed for a brief moment there, that the argument would get out of control and that he - while mostly ignored throughout the entire duration at the river, would have had to eventually step in and cool everyone down. But, the conversation did not veer that way, thankfully.

Ignitingshade's apology caught the male slightly off-guard. It was not words he expected to hear slip from the tom's muzzle. He stared after him, curious as to why he had said what he did. It likely had something to do with Patchstrike's performance. Or, something else.

Stagwhisker didn't know much of the three brothers and their parents. So the leader's words were a little more weightless to Stagwhisker, than to the others involved. The tom thought Amberstar's words were fair. Potentially a little too harsh, but the message rang true. Sometimes warriors also needed to hear what they may not wish to. Tough love is sometimes the best thing for order or respect.

The tabby slowly exhaled, a slow, drawn out sigh. There was now likely tension in the clan. The tom understood why Amberstar did what she did. The tom was glad she did. He too, wanted to purely engage in a conversation with clan-mates, as she had. However, he had felt ignored. The three brothers seemed disinterested in conversing with either himself or Amberstar. He - understandable, he was a mere warrior, but a nicer and more welcomed approach would have been nice. Amberstar however, she was the clan's leader. She deserved respect and she simply had not received it.

The male's eyes followed the leader as she went towards the river. He pinned one ear back and slowly went towards her. Stagwhisker was not one for diplomacy, or smooth speaking. The tom was a little rough around the edges when it came to that, and was even more so when it came to consoling. However, he intended to give it his best shot. This was after all his clan mates, not a discussion across a border. "I know your intentions were true," he said as he peered at the crystalline water, "I believe you did the right thing, Amberstar. They were out of line."

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar suddenly felt warmth from another clanmate as she sat at the shore. She looked to the side without moving her head. The chocolate warrior was indeed handsome and good to look at. His eye color matched his fur in some way. A little bit. To her, he looked like one of the toms who could win over anyone he wanted. The leader shifted her head toward the water hoping that he didn't catch her looking at him. There was no love or anything in her eyes, but she didn't quite know him or his thought process. She focused her mind into his words instead.

"Of course you did, you and I both felt out of place," her voice was crisp unintentionally. The leader sighed and closed her eyes. She didn't want to speak to him like that despite her sour attitude at the moment. "I thought I was the who went a little bit overboard. I shouldn't have mentioned their kin--that will only make things worse. I just wanted them to show some respect. For StarClan's sake, if they can't show me that then who knows what they could do! I feel like they only thought about their point of view. They need to grow up. Warriors don't even play like that. The could have at least practiced some battle moves. Something productive... Nobody is telling them to not have fun, but being a warrior is not all about having fun!" AmberStar had been venting out so much that she nearly forgot Stagwhisker was there. She sighed again. "Forgive me," she murmured.

"I don't wish to talk about this," she said. "Let's talk about something else." AmberStar kept her gaze on the water. Talk about what exactly? She didn't have a clue. Perhaps the brown tom did? The leader wanted to have an open, friendly conversation. It was something she yearned to have since she'd been so busy. She didn't want to end her day with a heated argument. From listening to the tom, she thought she had a shot of having a decent trade of words. The orange she cat didn't ask any questions in case Stagwhisker had something to talk about in mind.

The leader's initial crisp reply was hard to his ears. But, the tabby didn't seem to be too bothered by it. Stagwhisker was rather understanding, knowing well that Amberstar's tone lingered from the incident; still feeling the effects of stress and impatience. The tom slowly nodded to her, when she first spoke, explaining that both of them were out of place. The tabby didn't need permission to talk to his clan-mates. And neither did Amberstar. HawkClan was a clan. They were all supposedly meant to get along, trust and care for one another; stand as a group rather than as an individual. As the tom listened to the amber feline's speech about how the warriors were being unproductive. The tom was agreeing with her in his mind, thinking about how they were acting so kit-like, and being so rude while at the same time. They needed to grow up, he agreed. However, his mind suddenly halted as the she-cat apologized. He shook his head to her words, a kind smile spreading across his features. "No," he said, "It's fine. I understand," he said. The male was about to elaborate, informing the she-cat that he too agreed with her, but she wished to change topics and so he respected that, deciding not to proceed further.

The brown tabby studied the water for a brief moment, before looking out towards the bustling terrain. "Would you like to join me for a hunt?" The male then suggested. Stagwhisker was keen on socializing with clan-mates, and the way he saw that best achieved was through hunting in a small patrol. "You know, I feel these past few moons have just flew by! HawkClan has been kept busy. Leaf-fall has arrived. A changing of leaves always brings new challenges," he said.

AmberStar looked to the tom who instantly grew on her. Besides Silverbook, the clan's medicine cat, Stagwhisker was one of the mature cats in the clan. The leader wouldn't know how to handle a clan of immature cats. She stood up and stretched her legs after he suggested a hunt. "Yes," she meowed. "It would like that. Looks like someone wants to speak to their leaders." Her tone was more mocking than angry. With the three young cats no longer there, she felt like herself. The sourness was going away. "I feel like I just became leader... Time has gone by. I've been leader for almost eight moons now. My favorite season is here, thank StarClan. Next after that will be leaf-bare. Towards the end of this season,I will have everyone prepare for the next season. This clan cannot afford to lose its members."

The leader lowered her head to lap up some of the fresh water. Her amber eyes were closed and her muscles were relaxed. There was nothing better than drinking fresh, cold water. When she got her fill, she looked up and stood straight. "Would you like to have a hunting competition or would you rather relax?"

Stagwhisker was energetic about getting to know Amberstar. He wanted to see her than more than simply a leader, more than simply the she-cat he knew to respect and obey. The tom wanted to consider her a friend, and get to know her truly. He was fond of understanding her and her reasoning for her rules or actions. It seemed like a smart thing to know and to do, he told himself.

"8 moons is not overly long," he said, "However I'm sure you'll have many, many moons of leadership ahead. Especially to ensure the clan is better prepared for the moons of scarce prey ahead," he said with a slow nod. While leaf-fall had just begun, it was clever to be aware of the looming Leaf-Bare. It would be here in about 2-3 moons, and when it arrived, HawkClan would not only be faced with scarce prey, but the dangers of sickness too. Not to mention the other clans. The other clans always presented a danger however. But, scarce prey, sickness and enemy clans? That could present a rather stressful period.

Stagwhisker emitted a gentle purr as he too, lowered his muzzle to lap at the cool, refreshing crystalline water. The liquid slid down his throat, wetting the end of his muzzle slightly. He straightened up when the she-cat spoke of a hunting competition. A competition against Amberstar seemed like dangerous odds - he was a warrior, while she had many moons more experience on top of him. However, he was not opposed to the idea. The tabby preferred the idea of a relaxing hunt, it seemed more fitting especially after the tension. It also gave the male a chance to get to know who Amberstar truly was, too. "How about a relaxing hunt?" He proposed as he tilt his head side-ways, "It might be nice considering the earlier dramas," he said.

~AmberStar of HawkClan~

AmberStar's Bio

AmberStar studied the tom cat for a little bit. Did he feel excited to get to know her? The leader felt a little bad for him and herself. She was very hard to get to know and quite feisty. Whenever someone asked a personal question or tried to get closer than she intended, she would get defensive. She would likely give someone a one liner. Due to choosing a undependable deputy in the past, she grew distrusting and skeptical to others. The leader just learned to trust her intuition and ever since she ran things by herself. She honestly wasn't in a rush to choosing a deputy.  In other words, she had walls surrounding her every turn. She didn't have any friends currently.

"I know that. I think I'm the youngest leader of the four clans," she told him simply while she looked ahead. "You know, I've always felt like HawkClan was prepared for anything. I thank StarClan for allowing this clan to strive. I know leaf-fall will bring new challenges as it always has." The leader wished that her favorite season lasted longer, but of course that wouldn't happen. In her opinion, the leaf-bare wasn't a very bad season. AmberStar liked challenges and often played with them. But she was a leader, and she couldn't afford to "play" with the challenges especially with her clan at risk.

AmberStar's amber eyes looked back to Stagwhisker. Of course he preferred a relaxing hunt. He didn't seem competitive at all--at least in her eyes. She craved competition sometimes and would like to have them no matter what situation she just got out of. It was part of her personality. She always competed. The leader blinked her eyes. She wasn't a very selfish cat, so she went with the idea. "Yes, yes we can." The orange cat shifted her smaller paws. She was ready to go.

Laying About [Open] Empty

Stagwhisker was somewhat of an opportunistic tom. He took the opportunities he could, if they were there and he was always eager to expand his knowledge or increase his responsibilities if it were for the good of the clan. The tabby had never really dreamed of becoming a deputy however; unlike many young kits and apprentices. He wanted simple things, to become a warrior, to defend and protect his clan, no matter the cost. However, now that he had since reached that dream, the idea was seeming more and more appealing towards the young male. Stagwhisker wasn't bloodthirsty for such role, nor was he overly persistent. If StarClan destined his path to be at Amberstar's side in the role of deputy, then they would make it so. If not, then he respected that.

Stagwhisker did not want to become deputy of a clan whose leader he did not know well, however. And that within itself could be a challenge given her naturally fiesty nature. But, Stagwhisker was patient and he - himself, was not a complete open den either.

The male erected his ears when Amberstar mentioned being the youngest leader of all the clans. In all truth, he wasn't too surprised. The other leaders seemed a lot older, a lot more experienced than Amberstar. However, experience and age did not mean anything in Stagwhisker's eyes. As they grew older, they grew weaker. Experience also had the potential to hinder. Leaders could make decisions based on experience, yet are looking too narrowly. Amberstar, she could look with an open-mind. The options endless. A smile curved across his muzzle as she spoke about HawkClan and it's preparedness. He nodded as she spoke, "I think so too," he said.

The male was about to ask the leader if she wished for a competitive hunt instead. However, he watched as her paws shuffled, demonstrating that she was ready to go, so he simply nodded. "Land prey, or fish?" He asked Amberstar as he looked back towards the River. The male wasn't sure where she preferred to hunt. If she wanted to hunt close or in the river, or wanted to head more inland; just enough to catch mice and birds instead of water voles and trout.
