AmberStar sat near her den in the clearing. She sun was up and the temperature was cool. It was as if the sun didn't wish to give off any heat to anything. The wind picked up on it and traveled along the camp. Her orange pelt moved in direction of the wind and went back to its normal position right after the wind left. Looking around the camp, she didn't find any cats around. Hmm, she thought. The only cat who should be stuck in the camp was Ignitingshade. If she ever happen to see him out of the camp during his punishment, she wouldn't be nice. She would also monitor his food intake because he wasn't hunting for the clan. At that point, she didn't care how someone thought of her punishments. Disrespect wasn't ever tolerated in her clan or to her. She would punish someone over and over until he/she got it right. AmberStar didn't play games.

Ignitingshade pushed his way through the Warriors den deciding to get a head in the day. Another cat would be more than likely to sleep in, but Ignitingshade wasn't known for sleep or slacking off in general when it came to his duties. He stopped when he exited the den before stretching out his muscles and letting out a quite yawn. Just to wake himself up more, Ignitingshade sook out his fur. It didn't look like a lot of others were actually up besides Amberstar and himself. He rolled his honey golden eyes when he noticed her looking for something or someone, he could only guess who– him. Letting out a quite sigh he stalked over towards his leader bitting his tongue to avoide letting his big mouth fly. Wouldn't want to get in any more mouse bile than he already was, which he still didn't think he deserved. Sure he probably talked back to his leader, but she did interrupt him and his bonding time with his siblings. Wasn't it good that the brothers got closer after their mothers death? You would think so, but in Amberstar's book it apparently wasn't. He sat in front of her and blankly stared in to her golden eyes, he was in no way challenging her authority rather letting her know that she had his full attention. After all she was saying that he was rudely disrespecting her at the Little River. "Anything you want me to get at first, Amberstar?" He had to grit out, but otherwise kept his facial and body expression's neutral.

AmberStar smirked when Ignitingshade appeared. That was the tom that she wanted to see. The fact that she gave him a punishment was a little bitter sweet to her. Disrespectful cats were not going to last. Not in her clan. "Nice to see you, Ignitingshade. I'm glad you joined me here this morning." She stood up and scanned the black tom for any signs of attitude. He seemed neutral which was a good sign. "I want to tell you this: you may not yet realize that you deserve your punishment, but you do. You will learn this when you mature. I do not expect such disrespect from you ever again. If you do try me again, I will make a great example of what happens to a disrespectful cat," her voice was rather harsh. Suddenly, her facial expression went back to normal. "Follow me," she said simply. The cat walked over to the nursery. "I want this to be the cleanest that you can possible make it. It's been a while since it's been cleaned. You are good for the job. Get it done."

"Likewise, Amberstar."The black feline said gruffly as he followed her towards the nursery. No kidding Amberstar, why would I ever think that you are right and I am wrong? The oil black feline thought to himself, having to bite his tongue from saying that out loud. Yes, he understood that he might have been a bit on the rude side, but he still didn't understand that she was getting angry that he spoke up about her interrupting them. One thing he didn't understand was that she was calling him immature when play fighting actually enhanced one's ability to defend themselves and their clan. He was learning something when he was fighting with his brother's, just like how kits tussled Ignitingshade was doing the same exact thing with his half brothers. Was that bad? What was so bad about that? That was what Ignitingshade did not understand. "Why would it need to be cleaned when nobody is inhabiting it?" He asked before looking at Amberstar suspiciously, "unless you are expecting?" Ignitingshade knew this would irk his leader, yet he didn't care as he made his question as innocent as possible. It would be a natural question to ask as they didn't have any new litter's or expecting queen's to his knowledge. She couldn't get mad at him for asking an innocent question. Thus it was why he asked as he raised an eyebrow in question. He hoped to StarClan that this wasn't the case. Ignitingshade knew she wasn't expecting, but he acted clueless, a way to slyly get back at her. It would be more worth it if he had an audience to add more of an effect. Inside Ignitingshade was laughing, however, on the outside he was serious and actually looked clueless. One thing Ignitingshade was good at was acting, oh how good he was at acting! To be honest, Ignitingshade would feel rather bad for the unlucky tom who got with Amberstar, but he didn't say that out loud. Only thought about it.

Lynxstride slowly woke as the sun became unbearable to his sleeping eyes. The large tom hated sleeping near the entrance of the warrior's den, but it was the only way he could wake up in time to get anything done. He opened his eyes and slowly stood up from his nest, stretching out his back then his legs as he made his way out into the camp clearing, yawning. The cold surprised him for a bit, the wind pushed up under his short pelt and nearly drove him back to the comfort of his nest. However he shook himself out and gritted his teeth, he needed to be productive today. Looking around the camp he spotted his brother, Ignightingshade, over by the nursery with Amberstar. The previous day's events flooded back to him and he let out a small sigh. No doubt Ig was receiving his punishment, 'But why the nursery?' as far as Lynxstride knew they had no kits or queens at the moment, but maybe Amberstar just wanted it clean so that the apprentice's didn't need to waste their time on it. He shrugged it off and looked around for the deputy, then realized they had no deputy to organize patrols and padded over to Amberstar. He made sure to keep a respectful distance, not wanting to interrupt whatever was happening here.

AmberStar watched Ignitingshade intensely. She was no fool. The leader had known him long enough to know how rude he was. His body language often didn't match his intent or mind. The smaller leader could play games also. That immature warrior thought he was clever, eh? "Why not? I want the nursery cleaned along with all of the others. Remember, it's not cleaned until I say so." She turned her head to see his brother. It looked like he too need something to do. "Get it done. And remember to have fun being an apprentice for the clan. You may be doing this for a moon or longer. Enjoy it when you can," she cut her eyes away from Ignitingshade before walking over to Lynxstride. The orange leader took a glimpse at the fresh-kill pile. It wasn't empty, but it needed more prey. Without a deputy, she did the patrols herself. The clan seemed to be short in members, which made her wonder if other clans had the issue as well. "The fresh-kill pile isn't satisfying to my eyes. Go ahead and hunt some prey. Take someone with you," she told the tawny young warrior.

Why not? Did his leader seriously just ask that? There were much more important things to clean. The nursery just happened to not be one of them. He could understand cleaning the warrior's den, but the nursery? No, that was just pointless. Cleaning something that wasn't be lived in. Does she mistake him for a fool? Ignitingshade had a big mouth and sarcastic bite, but he was not stupid. And to think she thought him to be had his blood boiling, "It's only clean when I say so," the ebony tom grumbled under his breath. It was one of those times when you just can't keep your mouth shut and you end up saying a sarcastic remark under your breath. This happened to be one of those times. Lashing his tail in anger Ignitingshade growled as he started cleaning the nursery. Amberstar might be proud when she learned he wasn't as he seemed on the outside. He knew that the longer he was contained in the camp the more irritable and hostile he would be, so not wishing to be like that in the future he figured he would actually put his full effort in cleaning. Whether he liked it or not didn't matter. Before he started cleaning Ignitingshade gave Lynxstride a brisk nod in greeting.

"Yes, Amberstar." he dipped his head to the leader and walked more towards the middle of camp. There Lynxstride sighed and searched for someone to take with him. Surprise! No one was up yet. So that meant either someone had to wake up in the very near future or he was dragging a grumpy, sleep deprived, warrior out of the den. He returned his brother's nod then trotted over to the warrior's den and poked his head in. Watching, waiting. The first unlucky soul to open their eyes was going on a hunting trip.

Silverbrook slipped out from the medicine den, yawning. He had finally finished organizing the herbs he had gathered. His minty gaze swept across the clearing. All seemed to be in order. Amberstar was giving Ignitingshade some grief, and ordering Lynxstride to go hunting. Ignitingshade and Otterfern seemed to be having a conversation, before they went off somewhere together. He smiled slightly, glad that they seemed to be getting along. The tom flicked his tail and laid down in a patch of sunlight, his fur fluffed due to the now cooling temperatures. He never really fancied the cold, and much preferred warmer weather. His pelt wasn't thick whatsoever, and wasn't that dense as well. Winters were pretty dang annoying for him, and he hated them with a passion.... He couldn't even gather most herbs! 'Hrm... speaking of herbs... I need to begin stocking up. I'll have to take Mosspaw with me and begin gathering them,' the medicine cat mused, his tail flicking. 'I'll do so once she's out and about.'

A pale tabby walked out of the medicine cat den, the cool air causing a shiver to rake its invisible claws along the toms back. No, no, no, why? Why must it be so cold? The rather grumpy feline thought to himself. Unlike other cats with longer fur, Mosspaw had short and thin hairs, meaning leaf-fall and leaf-bare were absolutely horrible to the tom. He could only imagine how Silverbrook thought of the cooling temperatures. Leaf-bare was right around the corner and it was time the two got started on getting herbs. It was part of the reason as to why the tabby woke up so early, leaving behind his dreams and a warm nest filled with the scents of dried herbs. Most would sneeze when they first walked into the medicine cat's den and be bombarded with the many different scents could be overwhelming to anyone. But to Mosspaw it was heaven and comforting, serene, but lively. Scanning his mint green eyes Mosspaw saw Amberstar, Ignitingshade, and Lynxstride. Shortly after he found his mentors marbled silver pelt he slowly padded towards him, still waking up. "Will we go herb hunting today before the frost sets in?" Mosspaw asked as he took a seat next to the silver tom and waited for a response.

AmberStar sat in front of her den. Her eyes were narrowed and her tail was flicking with irritation. She saw Ignitingshade leave the camp with Otterfern without her consent. Did he forget that he was in punishment? Instead of stopping him at his tracks, she decided to let him go--with a harsher punishment when he comes back. There was no way she would allow someone to break the rules without being punished. The orange leader padded over to the fresh-kill pile and took a vole. She carried it towards the large rock on the edge of the clearing.

Stagwhisker was feeling a little overwhelmed about having been appointed as the clan's deputy. Amberstar's words continued to ring in his ears, giving the white and brown tabby a rush of excitement. He had never dreamed of becoming the deputy, unlike many others, it had been an expression of interest as he aged into a more mature, responsible warrior. He believed in Amberstar, and grew to want to help her and work-alongside her as her deputy. Stagwhisker had merely hoped to be considered, never to actually be chosen. However, he exceeded his own expectations. He was proud and grateful, believing it was not only Amberstar's wish, but StarClan's.

After the ceremony, the new deputy had stayed and chatted among his clan-members before padding away for some fresh-air at the hunting grounds. Stagwhisker had returned from his hunts with a solid white dove. The dove itself was plump, round and juicy. It was likely a good gift for a queen or elder. The new deputy made his way into the camp, dropping his kill down onto the well-stocked pile. The warriors had been hunting relatively well, he thought, but it would be good to ensure the clan was well-fed as leaf-bare was starting to creep across the clans gradually. The colder temperatures were starting to sneak their way in.

Stagwhisker ventured across to the warrior's den and sat down. The male's thin striped tail wrapped across his white splashed paws. His golden yellow, nearly greenish oculars scanned the camp curiously.
