Shortly after the apprenticeship ceremony was concluded Bluefrost turned on her heels before heading for the camp's entrance, yowling over her shoulder for her newest apprentice to follow. This would be her fourth apprentice that she successfully mentored. It was only a shame Quickpaw's sister died such a young age. Like Purestar, Bluefrost mourned just as much at the loss of Icebreeze. Letting out a quite sigh the small deputy glanced over her shoulder, making sure her apprentice was following. She would have to show her the boarders and familiarize Quickpaw with the Clan scents. With that goal in mind Bluefrost steered her way towards their boarder with HawkClan. Might as well as get that out of the way since it was the farthest from camp. Stopping just fox-lengths from the boarder Bluefrost sat down, curling her tail over her paws as she waited for her apprentice to show.

Quickpaw was full of excitement, watching her brother be whisked away causing her to momentarily realize her own mentor was now calling to her. She stood quickly, shaking out her fur before trotting after her mentor at a brisk pace. Will she be good enough? What if she was bad at hunting and Bluefrost got frustrated with her? What if she wasn't as good as Bluefrost's previous apprentices and she had to have a new mentor who could deal with a boring apprentice? She wanted to be smart, quick like her name, strong like the stories Purestar told of Blazespirit, she wanted to be like her mother. Once again, she found herself worrying about other cats comparing her to her mother, even if she wanted to be like her mother. What if she was more like her father, of whom she'd never known? Quickpaw guessed that's who she resembled as she did not resemble her mother at all...
With all the worrying and thoughts, she finally realized she was not near camp anymore. Jumping slightly, she slipped towards where Bluefrost's scent lead, finding the shecat there. She perked her quizzically curled ears and bounded next to Bluefrost in a flurry.

Bluefrost glanced away from her apprentice before turning towards HawkClan's boarder, "this here is our border with HawkClan. You must never cross this border unless you have permission or you're with Purestar and me. If you do cross without permission HawkClan has a right to attack you. Understood?" Bluefrost's tone was sharp as she wanted Quickpaw to know how serious this situation was, she wanted the importance to be well known to her new apprentice. Bluefrost already knew Quickpaw was a serious cat that worried too much, but that didn't mean she wouldn't goof off every once in a while. "What do you smell, Quickpaw?" The deputy tilted her head towards her apprentice as she waited for a reply.

"Yes, of course, Bluefrost" Quickpaw listened, nodding quickly as she observed around her. The rocks slowly faded into heather and moor. She stared out at these moments for a little while before responding.
"I-um--" she stammered slightly, parting her jaws to take in a large breath, allowing air to bathe over the scent glands at the roof of her mouth, tasting. Foreign scents washed over her, slightly over-whelming her but she pushed that feeling away and concentrated hard, wanting to impress her mentor.
"Heather, grass, and I think... it's a cat scent, is it Hawclan's markers?" She inquired, turning to gaze upon her mentor.

A small smile tugged at the ragdolls mouth as she watched Quickpaw intently as she took in the many different scents. Yes, Bluefrost herself remembered being bombarded with the scents too when she was an apprentice, she was here with Purestar when she was a mentor herself. "What you are smelling is HawkClan. Each clan has their own scent, HawkClan smells of the moors while VultureClan smells of the rivers and fish. EagleClan smells of the rocky mountain  that we reside on." Bluefrost told the young tri colored cat, this time Bluefrost's voice was gentler and warmer as she got up and started walking away. It was best if they got a move on, they didn't want to be caught out in the middle of the night. The mountain was dangerous as it is, Bluefrost didn't want Quickpaw to get seriously hurt. It would look bad on her end and she didn't want Purestar to be worried about her kit. She lost her previous litter and the ragdoll was determined to have Quickpaw and her brother live until their senior warriors or even better elders, old and frail and pass on stories of the clan to the young kits.
